Students are encouraged to explore rhythms, learn fundamentals of basic positions and movements, and discover what it’s like to be on stage! Animal imagery (like stretching “kitty legs” or tiptoeing like fairies) is used to teach basic movements and help build coordination, balance, and gross motor skills while using props like scarves, wands, and tambourines. Children love the mixture of these two genres, providing them an opportunity to learn both the elegant ballet formations and terminology combined with the rhythm and fast pace of tap dance. The music helps: you hear the rhythm and respond to it. The class structure has warm-up, technique, and choreography and the style feels expressive. Students don’t just memorize. They perform. - **Tap** - The emphasis will be on the Basics of Rhythm Tap. Together we will journey through Traditional Tap Choruses and Rhythm Tap Technique while building your tap vocabulary and focusing on musicality and timing. Students learn fundamentals through barre, across the floor, and center floor instruction.
