Frequently Asked Questions

Does my child need previous dance experience?
Not necessarily.
Many programs are designed for beginners. When registering, pay attention to age and experience recommendations so your child is placed in an appropriate class.
What should my dancer wear?
Dress requirements depend on the class.
Dancewear and appropriate footwear help instructors see alignment and allow students to move safely. D&T will provide the specific requirements for each program.
Does my child need special shoes?
Different dance styles often require different footwear. Ballet slippers, tap shoes, and other dance shoes are designed specifically for their respective styles.
Check the class requirements before purchasing shoes.
Can my child take more than one style?
Absolutely, when appropriate for their age, schedule, and experience.
Training in multiple styles can expose dancers to different techniques, musical styles, and ways of moving.
Will my child perform?
Performance opportunities depend on the class and program. D&T offers opportunities for dancers to take what they’ve learned in the studio and experience the excitement of performing.
